What Are We?

Hi, this is Anthony. Here are some dedicated students and instructors from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and overseas universities, who would like to together reflect to the public our learning and experience in terms of the difficulties that refugees living in Hong Kong encounter in daily lives.

The refugee crisis is often regarded as a serious global issue, especially during these days when Russo-Ukrainian crisis arises. Yet unfortunately, we find many Hong Kong people fail to acknowledge the refugee issue around, let alone their difficulties. It is indeed high time for us to raise awareness of it. That's the exact reason that we are involved.

No one likes a complainer. We are absolutely not trying to complain for them here, but to utilize this creative media, blog website, to share with you their daily lives, their beliefs, values and stories of perseverance.

As web visitors increase, more questions arise.

Why Blog Website?

As one group of the Service Project, we are to reflect those basic facts of refugees living here. At the beginning stage, when we were discussing the media of it, some proposed standard statistics as the media, yet I held

“ I hope that the web visitor will understand that they are dealing with every individual of flesh and blood, not cold and lifeless figures.”

Blog Website would create a fabulous platform to share personal sentiment and experiences. We shall utilize it to showcase relevant information, most of which would be helpful for local refugees. Moreover, the thoughts and value in every concrete blog is a vivid medium that could raise public awareness of this issue around those minorities.

We also invent a fictional character, Azra, who is a refugee living in Hong Kong for years. He has experienced a great deal during these years, and all the blogs were narrated and finished by him based on his experience and feelings. We assume this is the platform where he stands and shares his story - the refugee story of which he can never have enough - to the rest of Hong Kong and by extension the world. Here, he provides a unique insight into the life of refugees in Hong Kong.

In a nutshell, all the things we done in this blog web are intended to make you visitors understand their situations from a special perspective.

Where Are We Going?

Due to the unexpected pandemic, we fail to do volunteering this year, which leads to the fact that fewer stories can be collected by us personally. Thanks to the COMP3S02 Teaching Team and the articles they provided, we have some resources to make reference to, and we convert the content into today's blogs. If you know of any relevant stories, experiences, feel free to leave a message on this website, which can help us enrich this website together. Also, any thought or comment on this website substances is highly welcome.

We hope more and more Hong Kong people can realize this global issue, and if possible, act with us to serve for those refugees, the home seekers.
